Abstract The thesis consists of three studies that examine how individuals cope with demanding working conditions and how preferences for such conditions relate to performance and choices in education and the labor market. The first study analyzes preferences for working under time pressure. The second study investigates resilience to workplace distractions. The third study examines how time pressure preferences relate to academic performance at university.
