| Abstract | Compares the behavioristic (Skinnerian), organismic (Piagetian), and Russian approaches to the self-regulation concept in psychology, with special attention to the role of social regulation. Self-regulation theory and research based on these 3 approaches are summarized and evaluated. A trend is noted in both the behavioristic and organismic approaches toward a development in the direction of the Russian conceptualization of man as an active interactor with a stimulating environment. |
