Homoerotik und Hebräische Bibel

I discuss all relevant texts of the Hebrew Bible concerning "homoeroticism" in detail within the framework of reader-response criticism and intertextuality: both the legal texts Leviticus 18:22 and 20:13 and the narratives of Sodom, of Gibeah, of Ham and Noah, of Saul, David and Jonathan and of Ruth, Naomi and Boaz. A long tradition of literary receptions and appropriations of visual arts and music of these biblical texts and characters impressively corroborates the homoerotic readings already prior and parallel to the scientific interpretations of the second half of the 20th century.

Furthermore I suggest to research the theme "Homoeroticism and the Hebrew Bible" within the frame of queer readings to reduce the risk of maintaining heteronormativity. Various possible meanings of queer as well as varying approaches to queer theory are introduced and a survey of already known queer readings of these and further texts of the Hebrew Bible - such as for instance the creation accounts - is presented.
