| Abstract |
Data spaces enable secure, interoperable, and trusted data sharing. Systematically assessing their organizational and business maturity fosters progress. By translating the Data Space Support Centre Blueprint's Organizational and Business Building Blocks into measurable concepts, this paper develops a maturity model capable to perform such systematic assessment. Design Science Guidelines and Maturity Model Development phases are followed to translate described capabilities into concepts, dimensions, and assessment questions, applicable for maturity assessment of data spaces. The model is tested through case studies on real-world data spaces and validated by domain experts, confirming its practical applicability and diagnostic capabilities. The model offers a standardized framework for evaluating, benchmarking, and strategically improving data space initiatives, thereby significantly contributing to both academic understanding and practical implementation of data spaces.
