| Abstract | Animals in Hittite worldview, and their relations to gods, humans and things, were surveyed several times in the past. The aim of the present article, however, is to focus on one aspect that has not been treated exhaustively to date: the matter of categorization and hierarchical division within human-divine-bestial interfaces. Hence, I do not offer below an extensive survey of animals in the Hittite world, but only concentrate on the issue of animal categorization in Hittite perspectives. |
