Globalization: Waiting - in vain - for the new long boom

Upbeat predictions by international organizations and policymakers that because of globalization and new technologies a new global long boom is around the corner have not materialized, while social differences have increased. The reduced growth and increased inequality that we have seen since the end of the 1970s are not accidents or temporary phenomena, but structural features of today's capitalist world; prospects for a new worldwide long boom are therefore rather dim. This discrepancy between what is objectively possible and ¿really existing global capitalism¿ should increase the momentum of the international movement for a different globalization.
