Abstract The studies reported in this thesis show that childhood cancer survivors are at increased risk to develop several long-term adverse effects of treatment. As a consequence they already have a high burden of disease at relative young adult ages. Life-long regular follow-up is necessary to take appropriate care of childhood cancer survivors. More research is necessary to develop evidence-based guidelines for follow-up of the population of childhood cancer survivors and to develop treatment recommendations for future children diagnosed with cancer.
