Abstract In recent years, there has been growing interest in the Netherlands in how the colonial era and the history of slavery continue to shape society today. To examine the impact that the Dutch transatlantic slave trade continues to have on the health of descendants of enslaved people today, the Dutch Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport commissioned the University of Amsterdam to conduct a research study. This study took the form of a literature review and interviews with thirty experts from the fields of Dutch science, healthcare and civil society.
