| Abstract | In this thesis, we describe models of stars that loose their envelopes through mass exchange with a companion star. We discuss the implications of the ionizing radiation from these stripped stars on both their own spectra and on the surroundings. The thesis addresses the effect on both nearby environments and at high redshift. |
