| Abstract |
This chapter delves into the dynamics of evidence diffusion in social networks, focusing on the stability of epistemic attitudes and the conditions under which evidence cascades form. Using dynamic epistemic logic, the authors model how agents share and adopt evidence within a network, analyzing the robustness of group knowledge under diffusion processes. The study introduces key concepts such as 'Group Knowledge with Distributed Evidence' and 'Evidence-based Distributed Knowledge', distinguishing their behaviors and stability. Cluster theorems are presented to characterize the evidential and network conditions necessary for evidence to propagate and for individuals or groups to achieve certain epistemic states. The chapter also explores the implications of these findings for understanding collective reasoning and the spread of information in scientific communities. Through a detailed examination of evidence models and diffusion sequences, the authors provide insights into the dynamics of knowledge sharing and the factors that influence the stability of group knowledge.
