| Abstract |
To what extent has the job content of secretaries changed between 1994 and 2004? In this report the results of three largely comparable questionnaires as of 1994 (N=563), 2000 (N=1712) and 2004 (N=1432) are compared. The frequency of tasks reveals little changes over time. The few exceptions refer to technological progress. Tasks within the cluster Computer are being performed far more often, while tasks in the clusters Correspondence and Communication are less frequently performed. Yet, job titles have changed largely. Within the occupational group, the share of ordinary secretaries decreased substantially and that of departmental secretaries decreased slightly, whereas the shares of management assistant and office manager increased. The share of the secretaries of the board of directors remained constant.
