Abstract This article focuses on the role of music (in the broadest sense of the word) in Dutch-Moroccan youth culture. It explores the way Dutch-Moroccan Muslim youth appropriate particular kinds of music in order to express a specific kind of identity. How do they bring music consumption and conviction together- or not - and why? For Dutch-Moroccan youth Islam is an important element in their lives, but other factors, like ethnicity, are equally important.
