| Abstract | This article presents Ibn Khaldûn's Muqaddima, or 'Introduction,' as a classic of African humanities. It addresses, among others, the reception of this work in premodern and modern times, the question of whether he can be called a sociologist or economist in the modern sense of the word, and the accusations of racism occasionally lavelled against Ibn Khaldûn. |
