| Description |
In 2020, detailed visualizations of the former Vlooienburg neighborhood in Amsterdam, now the site of the Stopera, were produced by the 4D Research Lab (https://4dresearchlab.nl/), one of the Humanities Labs at the Faculty of Humanities, University of Amsterdam. The Amsterdam Time Machine team asked the 4D Research Lab to adapt these visualizations for use in a web application. In this application, the visualizations of the long-lost Vlooienburg neighborhood were connected to archival sources using unique identifiers for addresses from the central historical address database Adamlink (https://adamlink.nl/). This integration with Adamlink enables connections to additional heritage data sources that also utilize Adamlink identifiers.
This dataset contains individual visualizations of each house in the Vlooienburg neighborhood as it appeared in 1890, along with corresponding metadata.
The website was developed by the 4D Research Lab with financial support from the Amsterdam University Fund (AUF).
