Lessons Learned from Thirteen Years of International Real Estate Study Abroad Programs hosted by Universities in the United States, The Netherlands, and Germany

Using data about a diverse set of course offerings from Real Estate Management master classes at the Technical University Berlin, New York University, the George Washington University, and the University of Amsterdam, we discuss the lessons learned from international real estate abroad programs organized by these universities in 2000–2013. The findings come from the participating students’ responses to different surveys and the personal experiences of the authors. The programs are different in duration, learning intensity and content, as well as in education targets. We also discuss the risks and opportunities of this educational approach and the possible ways to improve these programs.
