| Abstract | Op-ed which responds to the proposal of several liberal Parliamentarians to curb the direct effect of treaties in the Netherlands legal order, and therewith the direct applicability of treaties (notably on international human rights) by the Dutch judiciary. For various reasons such a limitation and fundamental change in the Dutch constitutional system would be undesirable, and moreover ineffective in relation to the problem as it is perceived by said Parliamentarians. |
