Abstract
This chapter outlines the various international crimes that have been committed in Ukraine, discusses the available accountability options and sketches the context in which international crimes investigations take place within and outside Ukraine. It introduces some of the most relevant actors that are involved in criminal accountability initiatives and discusses the role of the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee in collecting evidence on international crimes in Ukraine.
As the investigation landscape becomes increasingly rich in its variety of actors, the role of the gendarmerie in it is one to monitor closely.
