Abstract
This thesis focuses on improving diagnosis and treatment for patients suffering from BCC. Although some aspects of optical coherence tomography imaging and Raman spectroscopy will be discussed in this thesis, it focuses mainly on incorporating reflectance confocal microscopy (RCM) as noninvasive skin imaging tool in a new treatment pathway for BCC.
The principal aim of this thesis is to assess the efficacy of a one-stop-shop concept with RCM for surgical management of BCC. One-stop-shop implies that diagnosis and treatment both take place on the day of initial outpatient clinic consultation.
