Lean and Six Sigma have gone through parallel developments in recent years. Originally applied to a small range of industries, both approaches are now also used widely in healthcare, administration and service. A recent development is the integration of the two approaches. In this paper we describe the synergy of Lean and Six Sigma. We present the Lean Six Sigma methodology and a few examples to illustrate how the combination provides an effective framework for producing systematic innovations in financial service.
