Abstract This article focuses on the cooperation between the Netherlands and Flanders as far as literary publishers are concerned. Based on on case study - the publishers De Sikkel and Mees -, the author argues that in the cooperation between two nations, often political sensitivities are involved. In the case of De Sikkel and Mees, the ideal of a Greater Netherlands played an important role as part of the political context.
