| Abstract |
Multiscale modeling is fundamental to the Virtual Physiological Human (VPH) initiative. Most detailed three-dimensional multiscale models lead to prohibitive computational demands. As a possible solution we present MAPPER, a computational science infrastructure for Distributed Multiscale Computing on European e-infrastructures. The rationale behind Distributed Multiscale Computing for the VPH is introduced. Next, the MAPPER infrastructure, that relies among others on components from the VPH-NoE ToolKit, is described. Finally, examples of VPH applications that will exploit this infrastructure are presented and other projects/applications are invited to join this development.
