Abstract
The work presented in this thesis focuses on the optimal way to guide women that have a low-positioned placenta. We aim to improve the care for women with a low-positioned placenta by:
• Investigating the origin of low-positioned placentas.
• Defining which women with a low-positioned placenta in the second trimester will have a low-positioned placenta in the third trimester, and which women are at high-risk and at low-risk.
• Assessing the risk of preterm birth for women with a low-positioned placenta in the second or the third trimester.
• Evaluating the chance of a successful vaginal delivery for women with a low-positioned placenta at the end of pregnancy.
