| Abstract |
The «cultural text» the author focuses on in this chapter, is the discourse of italianità in particular Somali diasporic communities in the United Kingdom and the Netherlands. Italianità is here considered a discourse in the Foucauldian sense and as a possible partial identity, as this can provide readers with a broader perspective on material and habitual signifiers of community formations, and on language practices connected to migration and colonialism. The author considers the languages, but also customs, habits, products; signs in the broadest sense of the word.
