Description
Data set from a greenhouse experiment with the aim to uncover the mechanisms of drought legacy effects on plant growth and plant-soil feedback, which are mediated by the soil. Specifically we looked into the role of soil bacterial and fungal communities, root exudates and root litter in driving drought-induced shifts in plant biomass production and plant-soil feedback. This dataset contains data from 3 experimental stages:Conditioning phase I: Plant growth of 3 species under drought or non-drought conditions. Data: Plant biomass and exudation rates (Conditioning_I.xlsx)Conditioning phase II: Soil conditioning either by plants in phase I or by addition of root exudates, root litter or inoculum collected in phase I from droughted or non-droughted plants. Data: Soil physical-chemical and biological properties (Conditioning_II), including amplicon sequencing data of bacteria and fungi (Sequence table 16s.xlsx, ELE_phyloseq_16s.RDS, Sequence table ITS.xlsx, ELE_phyloseq_ITS.RDS)Feedback phase: Growth of a new set of plants without drought history in the differently conditioned soils. Data: Plant biomass, plant-soil feedback (Feedback.xlsx)In addition, it contains a dynamic document with the code (Analysis_dynamic.qmd) and the corresponding output file in PDF (Analysis_output.pdf) for the entire data analysis. It requires four additional input files, that need to be loaded in later stages of the analysis (aldex_out_16s.csv, aldex_out_ITS.csv, res_ancom_16s.csv and res_ancom_ITS.csv), which are also deposited here.
