Abstract
This research is aimed at preventing technology-induced medical errors by searching for ways of safely implementing health information systems in high pressure work environments, without adding complexity. Corrective actions designed to mitigate medical errors are investigated on their effectiveness by investigating their beneficiality, followed by investigating feasibility and acceptance within a medical context. The research found that the feasibility of corrective actions depend on time-efficiency, acceptance, interruption-free workflows, flexibility, and resource consumption. Acceptance depends on hierarchy, perceived beneficiality, flexibility, complexity, privacy, fear of dependencies, efficiency, and communication. Beneficiality depends on time-consumption, financial costs, being preventive, creating simplicity, and iterative change. The research clarified which corrective actions to propose and which actions are implementable. The results reveal and interpret arising conflicts
between the actions and user-acceptance, and classify the types of beneficial corrective actions.
