De Economische Constitutie = The Economic Constitution Beginselen van de Democratische Rechtsstaat tussen Globalisering en Europeanisering = The Principles of Constitutional Democracy between Globalisation and Europeanisation : Staatsrechtconferentie 2019, Universiteit van Amsterdam

This volume collects the papers submitted in earlier versions at the the Annual Dutch Constitutional Law Conference, Amsterdam, 13 December 2019 [Staatsrechtconferentie 2019].
The foundations and principles of the functioning of the economy constitute a mostly invisible ‘economic constitution’ – ‘invisible’ but clearly influencing the functioning of the political and legal constitution of states. At the same time this ‘economic constitution’ seems to shirk the legal and political constitution, even if this formal constitution provides leads for the organisation of the economy. In an era of globalisation and Europeanisation of the economy this seems to be increasingly the case.
The Constitutional Law Conference 2019 is devoted to questions this gives rise to as regards the principles of the democratic state under the rule of law.
There are plenary sessions at the opening and end of the Conference, and between these there are three panel on social rights and the economic constitution, the European economic constitution, its consequences for human rights and its democratic legitimacy, and a panel on digital platforms and democratic governance.
The contributions are either in English or in Dutch.
