Abstract We present new mass-loss rates for AGB stars derived from fitting circumstellar dust models to the spectral energy distributions from 1 to 35 mum of 26 LMC stars and 14 SMC stars. It is found that for pulsation periods greater than 500 days, there is a very tight correlation of mass-loss rate with pulsation period, but for shorter periods there is a large dispersion in the mass-loss rate. The new results are compared to some commonly used mass-loss formulations.
