Abstract In this research the role of Medicinal, Aromatic and Cosmetic (MAC) plants for Saramacan local health care have been investigated together with Saramacan bio-cultural conservation practices during a three months fieldwork period in Suriname of which most time has been spent in the Saramacan village Pikin Slee. The results described are based on an explorative research on MAC plants and how these contribute to local health care and bio-cultural conservation in the Saramacan village Pikin Slee.
