Abstract Asia is a continent of great religious, cultural, and political diversity. Sexual practices and the meanings given to them vary widely too. Ideals of male beauty, transgender religious and cultural practices, and women's and men's same-sex practices have been recorded for many parts of Asia. Transnational contacts have impacted on local traditions. Sexual rights movements have come into existence all across the continent.
