| Abstract |
The idea that we have a conscious mind, controlling our bodily actions, is deeply embedded in our thinking of human nature. But is this correct? In this essay I will take you along sleepwalking murderers, patients that have lost control over their actions, and frogs catching flies, to convince you that this idea is mostly an illusion, borne out from our ceaseless wanting to predict our fellow human beings' behavior. The implications of this insight for the relation between psychology and neuroscience are discussed.
