Abstract
This paper analyses the way ethnicity informs and is shaped by research practices in sexuality research - how sexuality research contributes to ‘making up people’. Based on a literature review of research into youth, sexuality and education in the Netherlands, four research practices are analyzed. It is shown what the rationales of sexuality researchers are to take up ethnicity as a matter of concern, in what way research populations are compiled, how data is gathered and analyzed and in what way empirical results are presented in terms of ethnicity. It is argued that in these research practices, sexuality and ethnicity both take shape and that the relation between sexuality and ethnicity becomes naturalized.
