Abstract
A doctoral student in clinical psychology had been emotionally abused by his brother and sister for many years during his youth, without his parents interfering. He took a doctoral course in cognitive behavioral therapy. He volunteered to be subject in a demonstration of a one-session imaginary exposure (IE) for a group of 16 other trainees. He describes, as first author, how he experienced the IE, the changing of the ‘script’, the role of the other trainees and the action he took afterwards that restored the relations within the family. In the discussion, he and the therapist (the second author) evaluate the elements of this special treatment.
