| Abstract |
What words do we use to describe a particular event, or a specific reality? To what extent do the words we use offer a salient and faithful depiction of the complex textures of life we have observed and encountered? How are the languages we use informed by changing geopolitical circumstances? What common language can and may be developed between the anthropologist and their research participants? Is a common language even desirable, or possible? And what happens when our research participants observe the anthropological translations with skepsis?
