Description There are many world maps showing how our ancestors spread across the world following the emergence of our species in Africa around 300.000 years ago. However, islands are missing from these maps. The 'Islands on the Map' database brings together data from historical, paleoecological and archaeological sources into a global and spatially-explicit database on human settlement of islands.
