Abstract This thesis focuses on the characteristics of reading problems and dyslexia and its treatment. Reading development and reading difficulties have drawn interest of many researchers. Accurate and fast word decoding is important for reading fluency and this in turn contributes to reading comprehension. Difficulties with accurate and effortless decoding affect the reading process and ultimately school success. Consequently, various studies have looked at the ethology, course of development and remediation of reading difficulties or dyslexia. This thesis contributes to this field of research.
