| Abstract |
The pelvic ring is a complex structure with different anatomy and biomechanics throughout the different stages of life. Taking this into consideration, it is not surprising that there is no ‘one size fits all’ approach to diagnosing and treating these injuries. This thesis focuses on three areas that have historically been underrepresented in research: paediatric pelvic fractures, which present unique challenges and require tailored approaches; pelvic fragility fractures in older adults, focusing on the rising incidence and treatment options to improve outcomes; and the mode of delivery after pelvic fracture fixation, exploring how prior surgical interventions impact childbirth methods and outcomes. By addressing these topics, this thesis aims to improve the understanding and management of pelvic fractures across different patient demographics, ultimately enhancing clinical outcomes and patient care.
