| Abstract |
Cities are confronted with the impact of climate change and new measures are developed to enlarge the adaptive capacity of cities. In most cities more than half of the city consist of private areas (inhabitants, owners, companies) and therefore collaboration between governments and private actors is necessary for urban climate adaptation. The two largest Dutch cities, Amsterdam and Rotterdam, developed a network approach for climate adaptation. In this paper, we present the outcomes of a comparative study between Amsterdam Rainproof and Water Sensitive Rotterdam. These networks can be understood as boundary objects that appeal to the social worlds of different stakeholders. Based on a case comparison, we present a roadmap for boundary objects for realizing urban climate adaptation.
