Abstract The self-imagined Greek nation as a homogeneous Greek-orthodox entity is mirrored in citizenship law, which is based on ethno-genealogical considerations. The presence of a considerable immigrant population after the 1990s has not led to a reconsideration of this perception. Thus far, inclusion is negotiated around ideologies of Greekness and rights are distributed in terms of jus sanguinis.
