Abstract
The archaeo-geographical analysis of a territory allows us to capture some of its internal dynamics but also to think about their mechanisms of transmission over the long term. This contribution aims to apply this approach to the Parisian premodern territory in order to help us identifying sub-units with specific socio-logics within the city using both written and planimetric sources. After further examination, these sub-units appear to have been persistent at least from the 15th to the 19th century. This observation encourages us to explore the role of buildings and plot demarcation to understand the resilience of these sub-units in time: these elements, in interrelation with others, may have been involved in the upholding of urban territories over the long term.
