Abstract

This conversation engages the question of listening as a capacity to overcome the dominance of representation in our societies. Deploying the tool of decolonial aesthesis, this chapter asks with whose ears have we been made to hear? Can we practise listening as a way to receive the worlds of others, as a way of healing? If coloniality is marked by silencing other worlds, how can we practise listening as a response, as a way of working against silencing? This chapter elaborates the urgency of listening in the face of violence and reveals the task of listening as a weak power, a small power that in the middle of oppression, remains capable of healing and hope.
