| Abstract |
Bile acids act as postprandial endocrine hormones through their receptors TGR5 and FXR. The experimental studies described in this thesis address two important topics in the current understanding of human postprandial bile acid biology, namely natural variation and response to metabolic challenges. Each chapter describes investigations into postprandial human bile acid metabolism in different metabolic states and attempts to modulate the postprandial bile acid response using different metabolic interventions.
