Abstract
Marsa Matruh is a site on the Mediterranean coast of Egypt, approximately 290 km west of Alexandria. It was a major port in Roman times, when it was known as Paraetonium. It served as a stopover in Late Bronze Age maritime trade between Egypt and the Aegean.
