Abstract
Sport has a unique power to promote human rights. At the same time, it carries numerous human rights risks. In the past decade, the human rights discourse has infiltrated the world of sport as a result of a recent trend among stakeholders such as athletes, sponsors, and civil society organisations raising awareness of the importance of human rights to sport and to sports governing bodies. To make this trend sustainable, sport and human rights should be integrated into sport-related education at all levels so that future professionals and those already working in the world of sport can continue and consolidate this trend.
