| Abstract | This dissertation focuses on the optimisation of fluid therapy in the intensive care unit (ICU) to prevent both hypo- and hypervolaemia. The general aim is to investigate whether fluid responsiveness can be predicted using less- or even non-invasive haemodynamic parameters, and secondly, what effect the type of fluid can have on diuresis and blood pH. |
