Fareed Zakaria, in his 'In defense of a liberal education', defends the traditional Bildungsideal (against monomania), not the humanities (against science) - as this Dutch translation of his book suggests. His plea for a broad liberal education is restricted to university studies; cf. Martha Nussbaum's 'Not for Profit', which looks at all levels of education.
