Abstract This contribution opens up a methodological approach to the question of selling (parts) of corporate art collections, by means of narrativity theory. It argues that selling works of art (or entire collections) is not due to external factors such as economic downturns or changes in management of the companies in question, but is part of the normal dynamics. It can be explained by looking at the legitimation of corporate art and its use in the context of brand image and CSR strategies.
