Abstract
Franny Armstrong's The Age of Stupid (2009) offered a terrifying vision of our future in the wake of climate breakdown. Responding to my own work, "Precarious Planet: Ecological Violence in the Age of Stupid," allowed me to invite into the discussion, Bruno Latour's canonical work, Facing Gaia. As a planet and species, we have already crossed one major tipping point. Thus, we are already in the grip of climate change, heading for climate breakdown. The response is not to lose hope but to be response-able. Taking responsibility for the current climate emergency requires imagination, creativity and a determination to be ethical inside a super-organism called Gaia.
