| Abstract |
Angina with non-obstructive coronary artery disease (ANOCA) in relation to coronary vasomotor dysfunction has only been recognized in the past two decades. Consequently, coronary function testing (CFT) for the diagnosis of coronary vasomotor dysfunction has been relatively recently incorporated into the current European, American, and Japanese guidelines. As a result, there is an abundance of information lacking on this topic. Therefore, this thesis aimed to improve our knowledge regarding prevalence, identification, and diagnosis of coronary vasomotor dysfunction in both men and women with ANOCA. The results of this research will consequently be of added value for patients with ANOCA, who a decade ago were sent home with the message that their complaints were not of cardiac origin. They will now receive CFT, enabling a quicker diagnosis and tailored treatment resulting in less angina symptoms, and an improvement in their quality of life
