Abstract The general aim of this thesis is to investigate the difficulties in correctly calling cells circulating and disseminated tumor cells in patients with high-risk and metastatic prostate and urothelial cancer and the urgent need for disease-specific markers in the detection of these cells. As reflected in its title, this thesis is divided into two parts. The first part focuses on circulating tumor cells; the second part of this thesis is directed towards the role of disseminated tumor cells in the development of overt metastases.
Document type PhD thesis
Note Please note that the section ‘Chapter 9: Prostate cancer disseminated tumor cells are rarely detected in the bone marrow of localized patients undergoing radical prostatectomy across multiple rare cell detection platforms’ is not included in the thesis download.
