Abstract Cylinder seals are among the most iconic artefacts from Near Eastern archaeology. Even though sealing practices in the Bronze Age Aegean did not involve the use of cylinders seals, they have been found in this area. On the basis of a corpus of ca 100 of such finds, this article explores the ways in which such objects acquired value.
